About The Artist

Joey Veltkamp is an artist who lives and works in Seattle. His most recent work deals with ghosts, transitory states, and sources of comfort like blankets and quilts. Veltkamp has shown at Tacoma Art Museum, Greg Kucera Gallery, SAM Gallery, SOIL, Hedreen Gallery, and Sue Scott Gallery (NYC). In 2010, he was a Neddy Nominee in Painting and the inaugural artist-in-residence for Seattle University. He runs a Northwest-focused art blog called best of and has written for City Arts Magazine, DRIFT Magazine, New American Paintings Blog, Visual Art Source, and Pacific Standard. He is overly fond of bears, rainbows, and bourbon.
